Mark your calendars Mississippians. According to the MS State Tax Commission, July 31-August 1, 2009 is our state tax holiday. What does this mean for you? It means you won’t have to pay the 7 percent sales tax on purchases of clothing and shoes that individually cost less than $100. These two days are the perfect time to plan your back to school shopping and save some dough!

A short list of eligible items during Mississippi’s sales tax holiday include:

  • Athletic socks
  • Baseball caps
  • Blouses
  • Bras
  • Robes
  • Skirts
  • Gym suits
  • Jeans
  • Scarves
  • Swimsuits
  • Work Clothes
  • Uniforms
