Brookshires No Longer Tripling Internet Coupons

So I went to our local Brookshire’s to pick up a few extra baking items they had on sale this week. Armed with my $.50 coupons (which triple to $1.50) for Nestle Toll House Morsels, Duncan Hines Cake Mixes, and Carnation Evaporated Milk, I picked up my items and headed to the checkout. The cashier scanned my items, looked at my coupons and informed me that she couldn’t accept my Internet coupons. I asked why not and she said it was because it would make the items free and that they no longer triple Internet coupons. I asked since when considering I was just in that same store a few days ago and I had no problem using them and they all tripled as usual and per their coupon policy. She said they just received an email today about it and they no longer triple Internet coupons when it makes the item free, it will only take the face value. In a case where a coupon states you have to buy 2 items, it will take the face value plus only add enough to make 1 item free. She then scanned one of my coupons and it took $.50 cents off (the value of the coupon) plus .22 cents rather than the normal $1.50 it normally takes off.
I’m not sure what they’re doing or why, but first of all tripling the coupon would not have made my items free. I still would have paid a small amount plus tax if they had tripled them as usual. Secondly, I think they need to get their systems calculating correctly because $.50 + $.22 does not equal $.79 which was the sale price per item.
So there you go. I’m not sure if this has happened in all Brookshires stores across the country or if this is just my unfortunate luck. I have to say that I’m extremely disappointed since the majority of coupons I use are from the Internet to reduce my grocery bill. I don’t think I’ll be shopping at Brookshire’s much anymore because the main reason I shopped there was because they tripled coupons…I mean a girl’s gotta save, right? I pretty much only shop there when there is an item on sale that I have coupons for to maximize my savings. Besides that, I do the majority of my shopping at Kroger because I can stack my manufacturer coupons with my e-coupons loaded onto my loyalty card. It’s a shame though because I really liked my groceries being carted out to my car for me ![]()
